Constructed of materials with an American domestic value of at least 70%, the New Balance 996 MiUSA Gray Silver was released during one of New Balances iconic Gray Days, days in May when the sneaker company celebrates the color that has become their hallmark. The neutral colorway of this shoe begins with a base of grayish-taupe mesh that offers breathable comfort. Suede overlays in a lighter grayish-taupe shade adorn the toecap, midfoot, side panel, eyestays, and heel. A strip of peachy-tan suede provides contrast at the collar. A molded cream-colored heel counter sports New Balance branding, as it provides rear foot stability. The midsole constructed with ENCAP cushioning in shades of white and taupe features soft foam circled by a firmer polyurethane rim for support. The outsole in black and gray rubber has both lugs and grooves for absorbing impact and providing grip. Our favorite aspect of this sneaker are the hits of gray leather at the side-panel N and the branded heel tab that give off a hint of eye-catching sheen.
