The upper of the Black Graphite Grey ASICS Gel-NYC incorporates embellishments from the MC-Plus V and is inspired by early 2000s running shoes, such as the Gel-Nimbus 3. Overlays of synthetic leather in metallic silver and graphite grey are placed on top of black mesh. The overlays‘ rounded edges give the metallic silver a flowing appearance that is similar to liquid metal or mercury. The front lace closure ensures a secure fit, and reflective elements improve visibility in low light. The Gel-Cumulus 16 provides the tooling system, in contrast to the retro-inspired upper. This midsole consists of a blend of lightweight foams and gel technology inlays.
