The New Balance 2002R Gore-Tex Castlerock takes a running shoe silhouette from 2010, gives it an all-weather fabric, and then dresses it in a subtle, eye-catching colorway. The Castlerock iteration of the New Balance 2002R Gore-Tex features an upper of indigo mesh enhanced with Gore-Tex to keep your feet safe from wind and rain. Brownish-gray overlays in nubuck and suede cover most of the upper, establishing a rugged look as well as structural support. An indigo N adorns the side panel, while NB branding hits the heel. New Balance branding also appears on the tongue patch, and an embroidered N graces the bottom of the laces. What we enjoy most about this rugged sneaker is the high-octane sole. A grayish-tan midsole made of ABZORB provides cushioning and offers energy return, as does the ABZORB SBS heel insert.
